he Majlis Ash-Shura Elections

As-Salaamu-Alaikum,

The final ballot of nominees for the Majlis Ash-Shura Elections is complete. A synopsis of each nominees' biography and qualifications is on display in the lobby of the Masjid.

Elections will take place on May 4th, May 5th and May 6th, 2007 from 1:00PM - 5:00PM, in the Masjid library. Results of the elections will be posted on May 7, 2007 by 5:00PM.

Question: What are the duties of the Atlanta Masjid Majlis Ash Shura Board?

Answer: The Majlis Ash-Shura by-laws state..."the Majlis is to act as trustees of the membership on behalf of its donors and/or funding sources; to determine goals and objectives; to establish policies, other general guidelines and limits for the Masjid operations; to be legally responsible for all aspects of Masjid operations; to authorize programs/programming sponsored by the Masjid; to evaluate the results of the Masjid operation. Specifically, the Majlis is responsible for the functions of the Masjid, including policy administration, public and community relations, finance, personnel and program planning and evaluation. The Majlis is also responsible for the supervision, management, and control of the property of the Community. The Majlis shall determine its policies or changes, and shall actively prosecute its purposes, and objectives and supervise the disbursement of its funds."

Answer: No, the Majlis Ash-Shura board members volunteer their services.
